Lemon Bread

1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
6 Tbls butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
Grated peel and juice of 1 lemon
1/4 cup poppy seeds (or chopped walnuts)
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

Preheat over to 350. Grease and flour a 9x5 loaf pan.

Whisk together flour, salt and baking powder.

In a large bowl, cream butter, sugar and eggs together until light and fluffy. Add milk alternately with the flour mixture in 2 parts; mix well. Stir in grated lemon peel and poppy seeds.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the bread cool in the pan for 5 minutes.

Mix together lemon juice and confectioners' sugar to make a glaze. Remove the bread from the pan. Pour the glaze over the warm bread.
